Abstract: Physical activity and exercise has been reported as an important aspects of healthy life style. Medical student as the individuals who will be the future doctors and deal with the health of the community are important in this regard. They should be healthy and should have good knowledge and attitude toward health promotion and exercise. Despite the importance about improving exercise in medical students, there are paucity of researches in this field. This study was carried out to evaluate the exercise interest and habits of medical students in NIA University. This study was carried out in Shariati hospital studying medical students in fourth year of medicine in NIA University. Eighty medical students aged 24.2+-0.2(M+/-SEM) filled out the questionnaire assessing the information about age, sex, exercise interests, habits and barriers. Data were analyzed by SPSS-18 statistical software using descriptive statistics. The response rate was 85%. Fifty percent of the students reported to have interest in at least one kind of sports and only 47.8% performed exercise. Regular exercise habit was detected among 15.9% of the students. 26% reported exercise performance three or more times a week. Having not enough time, huge medical tasks, inappropriate time scheduling were reported as the reasons for inadequate exercise. The students who practiced professionally were 4.2%. The rest of the students practiced mostly for health, recreation, physical fitness or other reasons. These results reveal poor and inappropriate exercise habit among medical students in our study. An appropriate program for motivation and exercise promotion in this population is recommended.

Abstract: Impaired healing of wounds is one of the most serious diabetes mellitus microvascular complications. Resveratrol (RSV), a natural polyphenol compound, has antioxidant, anti-inflammatory and antidiabetic activities. Our study aimed to evaluate the potential of topical resveratrol formulation on histological, immunohistochemical and anti-oxidative findings in experimentally induced full-thickness wound model in induced diabetic rats. Seventy - two albino rats were divided into two main groups: normal control group (18 rats) and diabetic group (54 rats) which divided equally into three sub groups: sub group (I) received plain ointment base and considered as control diabetic positive; sub group (II) received topical standard marketed product for wound healing containing β-Sitosterol (MEBO) (0.25% w/w) and considered as reference group, while sub group (III) received topical Resveratrol 0.5% ointment, and considered as test group. Wound surface area (W.S.A) and oxidative enzymes, Histological and Immunohistochemical studies were carried out for each group throughout treatment period (1st, 2nd, and 3rd weeks). The obtained results showed that topical resveratrol ointment showed more potential healing effect on diabetic wound than the reference product. Resveratrol has percent wound contraction rate high than the wound closure rate than MEBO. Wound treated with resveratrol (group II) showed re-epithelialization and increased epidermal thickness compared with rats in control diabetic. So, topical application of resveratrol ointment has potential effect on enhancing wound healing process in diabetic conditions, and this activity may be attributed – mainly – to its free-radical scavenging activity.

Abstract: Background: Surgical care is an integral part of healthcare throughout the world. Moreover, studies have estimated that about 50% to 66% of hospital adverse events are attributable to surgical care. It appears that it is not only technical skills and technological innovation but also the behavioral patterns and nontechnical skills of the surgeon that affect surgical outcomes. Objective: To examine the impact of applying the surgical safety checklist on surgical outcomes andsafety attitudes of operating room professionals. Methods: An interventional study was carried out in a randomly selected public hospital in Kuwait using a specially designed form to collect data on each operation. A total number of 600 patients was enrolled during both the baseline period and after implementation of the checklist. All surgical team members working in the study operating rooms were included to assess their safety attitudes using Safety Attitudes Questionnaire. Results: Adherence to the items of surgical safety checklist increased significantly after checklist implementation. Moreover, introduction of the Checklist into operating rooms was associated with improvement in surgical outcomes. There was no statistically significant difference in safety attitudes after implementation of checklist. Conclusions: To successfully manage the surgical safety checklist, the support of senior staff is very important. This study serves as a starting point for initiating policy changes to address several issues such as improving job satisfaction and working conditions.

Abstract: Background: A hypertensive disorder of pregnancy is a common problem during pregnancy, affect 5-10% of women. The incidence of hypertensive disorders in pregnancy is increased with more risk of developing chronic hypertension in their life later on, this is mostly because of sedentary lifestyle and increasing maternal age. In Egypt, there is no accurate estimation of long term postpartum complications of hypertensive disorder of pregnancy. The current study aimed to evaluate remote complications of PE, and gestational hypertension. Methods: This is a retrospective study included of 508women with previous hypertensive disorders of pregnancy. Women that were diagnosed to be essential hypertensive, diabetic or had chronic illness before pregnancy were excluded from the study. Women recruited from Obstetrics and Gynaecology department at Al Zahra University Hospital and El Sheikh Zayed Al-Nahyan Hospital. All women were subjected to history, examination with more concern about blood pressure measurements, investigation (cholesterol and ECG). Results: Chronic hypertension occurred in 22.4%of women with previous hypertensive disorders of pregnancy, the development of chronic hypertension was higher in pre-eclamptic women (78.1%) than in women with Previous gestational hypertension (21.9%). 30% (89/211 cases) of cases with previous preeclampsia developed remote hypertension and only 12% (25/181 cases) of cases with previous gestational hypertension developed remote hypertension. Conclusion: Women with previous preeclampsia had more tendancy to develop chronic hypertension more than those with previous gestational hypertension, Women who develop chronic hypertension tend to have higher lipid levels compared to normotensive women with previous history of hypertensive disorders with pregnancy. Obesity is a risk factor for hypertension in women with previous history of hypertensive disorders with pregnancy.

Abstract: In order to measure the degree of security of RAF algorithm, some cryptographic tests must be applied such as randomness test, avalanche criteria, correlation coefficient, and criteria of S-Box. We proposed RAF algorithm and analyzed the randomness of the RAF output in earlier papers titled “A dynamic 3D S-Box based on Cylindrical Coordinate System for Blowfish algorithm” (alabaichi et al., 2014a) and “A Cylindrical Coordinate System with Dynamic Permutation Table for Blowfish Algorithm” (alabaichi et al., 2014b). In this paper, we analyze the security of RAF. The security analysis is divided into two phases. The first phase investigates the output of the entire RAF, including the avalanche text, and the correlation coefficient. The second phase investigates the quality of the dynamic 3D S-Box generated by the RAF by using the avalanche criterion (AVAL), the strict avalanche criterion (SAC), and the bit independence criterion (BIC). In addition, RAF algorithm is compared with the Blowfish algorithm (BA). The avalanche text findings show that both algorithms produced satisfactory results on the second round. The correlation coefficient for RAF showed better non-linearity than BA. The S-Box analyses show that the dynamic 3D S-Box in the RAF is equipped with more security features than dynamic S-boxes in BA. C++ is used in the implementation of both algorithms. MATLAB computing software (R2012a, Mathworks) is used to implement the properties (AVAL, SAC, and BIC), as well as the avalanche text and the correlation coefficient.

Abstract: Myeloid/lymphoid neoplasms with FGFR1 rearrangement (also known as 8p11 myeloproliferative syndrome, EMS) is a distinct disease entity in the current WHO classification. These patients frequently (~80%) progress to acute myeloid leukemia (AML) and have a poor outcome with a 5-year survival rate of < 20%. To identify the potential treatment regimen on these patients, the four reagents (Idarubicin, arsenic trioxide, Voxtalisib and Ruxolitinib) were applied on KG-1 cells. Our results showed that the KG-1 cell line was resistant to idarubicin. However, the dual PI3K/mTOR inhibitor Voxtalisib, rather than JAK1/2 inhibitor Ruxolitinib could be effectively against KG-1 cells. Arsenic trioxide (As2O3) combined with Voxtalisib synergistically inhibitted the viability of KG-1 cells. We also found that the combination treatment more significantly reduced the colony formation, induced apoptosis, decreased Bcl-2 expression, but increased caspase-3 expression as compared to the single drug treatment. Additionally, As2O3 enhanced the effect of Voxtalisib which decreased the phosphorylation of PI3K, AKT and mTOR. These data suggests that Voxtalisib in combination with As2O3 may provide a novel and efficacious therapy regimen for patients with EMS.

Abstract: The world is witnessing a continuous conflict between limited resources and necessary requirements. Therefore, most nations revise its priorities and concentrate on quality. Each nation depends on its gifted citizens to face this challenge. This requires early care for this sector in all educational institutes. Libraries are the best places for identifying and motivating gifted people through providing them with informational activities, services and materials suitable for their mental and creative abilities to continue their pursuit of learning. The main question the current study is trying to answer is: what is the role of libraries and information centers in supporting this distinct group of the society? The real problem is that most types of libraries are directed to older age groups of students who are not gifted, and their informational needs can be easily identified and fulfilled. This is why libraries, with their traditional objectives, can not provide the gifted people, who may be the most important group that needs information, with its services. Early identification of the gifted individual is the only way to preserve his/her gift. Therefore, public and school libraries are responsible for identifying and caring for gifted children and fulfilling their informational needs to improve the society as these two types are the first to deal with children since a very young age. The current study is trying to explore the opinions of librarians in public and school libraries about the role of the two types in supporting talents and gifted children, especially in Alexandria, through a field study for the two types in Alexandria during the school year (2016-2017). The study also identified the concept of "talent" and factors affecting it in addition to the role of school and public libraries in developing children's culture and identifying and fostering the gifted ones through supporting their creative ideas. In addition, the study explored the need for library services to do so and the role of librarians in successful dealing with the gifted, fulfilling their needs and overcoming their problems. The study also discussed the professional needs of librarians that include training and professional development. Results indicated that there are some variances in opinions about the concept of talent and characteristics of gifted children although a consistent definition is needed to build gifted care programs upon. Information in needed for improving the skills of gifted. Information technology and telecommunication should be integrated in providing gifted with services and activities. This integration is reflected on the educational process and confirmed the role of modern e-libraries. Results also clarified the current situation of school and public libraries in Alexandria and the services they provide the gifted with to fulfill their needs and support their skills. Librarians play positive roles in supporting the gifted and they can be trained on that. Researchers of gift in psychology and education should cooperate in applied research about the gifted libraries. The researcher recommended the establishment of specialized libraries for gifted children that initiate activities and programs specialized to them. a future plan for services of gifted children should be developed in addition to establishing a joint Arab scientific center for gifted education.
